Voluntary Recall of Galison/Mudpuppy Products with Metal Wire Bindings
On March 13, 2008, Galison/Mudpuppy, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, issued a voluntary recall of certain journals and a calendar with colored wire bindings. We have initiated this voluntary recall program because several of our products with painted wire bindings have shown an elevated lead content above certain federal consumer product standards. There have been no reports of illness or injury caused by these products, and we believe that the likelihood of such injury is remote. However, because we are committed to strict compliance with all regulations we have determined that it is better to be safe than sorry, and the best course is to stop sales of these products, and ensure that the entire inventory on the market is completely safe. Galison/Mudpuppy is committed to providing high-quality, safe consumer products. Always conscientious about our safety testing, the recent issues surrounding overseas manufacturing have inspired us to reassess our products and make doubly sure that everything is as safe as it possibly could be. Having been alerted to this particular problem, we have put new measures into place that should prevent its reoccurrence. We have been producing in China for more than 10 years and have previously never had a problem regarding unsafe product. Our factories are carefully selected and highly regarded. We have visited them and will continue to do so. We apologize for any inconvenience to you. Sincerely, Gerald Galison, President ONLY SOME PRINT RUNS of the products shown below are affected by this voluntary recall.
